I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been practicing for over 2 decades. I am passionate about providing support and guidance to clients through life transitions. I aim to help client to find peace, healing and progression in their lives.
My approach
MY approach is person centered, cognitive behavioral and reality therapy. I will meet clients where they are with engagement and support reflection. I look to help clients define their needs and wants. As a therapist, I also help clients to challenge their thoughts and replace them with questioning, positive self-talk and affirmations. I will also help client learn how to stay in the present with various mindfulness and physical grounding techniques. Most importantly help client identify the problems they wish to address.
My focus
teens 10 to 18 years old; adults 19 to 75 years old. I also work with couples. I work with clients who experience Generalized Anxiety, Depression, PTSD and Adjustment.
My communication style
While working with clients, I prefer to work through video and chat. I prefer an environment which is quiet. When you work with me, you feel as if you are receiving best practice and therapy modalities all in one.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became interested in therapy about 30 years ago as an undergraduate student. I was an intern with Chesapeake Human Services and discovered the barriers with individuals managing their daily lives. I decided to pursue my Masters in Counseling and work as therapist in the future. I come to work every day to make a difference in someone's life.
My goals for you
When I meet with client, we will establish goals which are attainable. Goals are measured over a course of 90 days.
My first session with you
IN the first session, I normally take time to engage with clients. I introduce myself and talk about modalities to be used and scheduling. In the first session, both the client and I establish weekly goals.
