My name is Nicolet Henderson. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who is grateful to be able to support my clients in meeting their mental health and personal development goals.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is a combination of client centered therapy and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. I also try to incorporate Art Therapy in my interventions. I believe in collaborating with my clients to identify coping tools and solutions that work for them as individuals, as everyone is different.
My focus
My therapeutic experience includes working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, stress disorders, and adjustment disorder. I have worked with adolescents as well as adults at various stages in their lives.
My communication style
I try to create a safe and calm space for clients to speak openly about their struggles and experiences. It is important that my clients understand that the therapy space is a judgement free zone and that they are free to express whatever they need to. Most clients have expressed the peacefulness of our sessions and the ease of speaking candidly.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist due to my interest in why humans behave the way they do and my desire to help others that are unable to help themselves. I believe that with the proper support, most people can learn to better manage and regulate their emotions and their behaviors. Seeing positive change in my clients or even expanding on their psychoeducation is what drives me to do this work.
My goals for you
I collaborate with clients to set SMART goals and objectives that they are comfortable working together to achieve. Their goals should apply the concerns that brough them to therapy in the first place.
My first session with you
The first session (or two) are focused on building rapport and trust between me and the client. I want to make sure we move at a pace that is comfortable yet effective.
