I am Valerie Juste Mondesir, a bilingual therapist (English & Creole) who has worked in the mental health field in various capacities. I work with individuals, couples, families, and other related systems. I have worked with diverse clients across age, gender, sexual orientation, spirituality, culture, ability, and socioeconomic status.
My approach
As a structural therapist, I provide a comfortable and supportive environment where clients can identify unhelpful or harmful patterns or ways of thinking and find new thinking patterns. The goal is to help the clients address problems within their systems’ dynamics and structure and encourage individuals to seek alternative ways to deal with their issues. Families and individuals are empowered to address conflicts, improve communication, and cultivate healthier relationships.
My focus
I have extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families in crisis. We will work together to help you re-establish your identity and strengthen your understanding of who you are without the effects of anxiety, depression, cultural trauma, and other issues that you are facing.
My communication style
I Provide a comfortable and supportive environment where clients can openly confront issues and learn to better process their emotions.
My journey to mental healthcare
I worked as a social worker for over ten years before completing my Master's degree at Fairfield University and have been a practicing therapist since 2017. I aim to provide a comfortable and supportive atmosphere where clients can openly confront issues, learn to better manage emotions, and engage in working toward their unique goals.
My goals for you
A solution-focused and strength-based integration of different therapeutic methods based on individual needs.
