Hello. My name is Jessica Zareck. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), based out of Connecticut, and I am currently taking clients statewide via telehealth. I enjoy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a client centered approach. My focus areas include anxiety, trauma, depression, life transitions, parenting, and assisting in building self-esteem/self-confidence.
My approach
My approach to therapy is to listen to the client and build the best treatment around their needs. I enjoy challenging the client to think of their own goals and provide positive feedback. The most common theoretical approach that I use is Cognitive Behavioral therapy. When appropriate, I also use attachment-based therapy. This helps to address the client's 'child-self' when working through trauma.
My focus
I have experience working with all ages. However, for telehealth I work with children age 8 through adults. I believe younger children have difficulty when it comes to telehealth and it's important to consider the developmental age of each individual.
My communication style
I listen to my clients, provide a safe place for them to explore the different areas they need to explore, and honestly communicate to them the things they need to hear. At times homework will be assigned to assist in practicing some of the coping skills that are explored during sessions.
