I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is highly motivated to help my clients reach their goals and find inner peace. I pursued my degree in Social Work and have been providing therapy over the last 11 years because I believe I can truly help people find joy and contentment in their lives.
My approach
I believe in following the client's area of focus and basing interventions on the strengths, needs, and individual characteristics of each client. While I generally choose to use an eclectic approach, the most common intervention I use is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as I feel that focusing on the client's thoughts and feelings can have a major effect on helping the client to reach his or her goals.
My focus
Some of my early experiences involved working with individuals with autism, and I must say I learned something from each and every one of the clients I helped. Still, I also enjoy working with clients with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and chronic pain. Furthermore, I treat individuals of all age groups from age 10 to 100 but I feel I relate well to teenagers and young adults and can help them work through their life difficulties.
My communication style
I believe in creating a friendly, open, engaging, and optimistic environment in which clients feel free to be themselves and are honest about what they are looking for in the therapeutic process. I am an active listener and attempt to assist my clients in feeling free to open up and talk about the issues that are bothering them.
My journey to mental healthcare
I entered the social work field and decided to become a therapist because I believe I can make a difference in the world. I believe that therapists have a very important role in changing society by helping one client at a time. I have always been invested in helping friends and family and I wanted to make a larger impact on society.
My goals for you
Goals are created in the interactions between therapist and client. I will assist my clients in determining what changes they want to see happen in their lives, but the goals are completely individualized to my clients' needs. Goals are created in the first session but they are improved upon with time as the client becomes comfortable in therapy and can better express what it is he or she would like to work on.
My first session with you
The first session is about getting to know my clients and better understanding what brings them to therapy. I will ask questions to get a better sense of what is causing them distress, explore possible goals, develop possible interventions that might help them find relief, and answer any questions my clients might have about the therapeutic process. Most importantly, I will try to build an initial relationship with each of my clients in which they feel comfortable and safe in the therapy process.
