Hi, my name is Melissa Testa, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. With a genuine desire to empower individuals to overcome their challenges, I have honed my skills in outpatient strength-based, person-centered therapy. I provide a safe place for positive change to improve each person's quality of life, based on their individual needs and goals.
My approach
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I utilize a wide range of treatment modalities in order to provide personalized and client centered treatment. I draw from multiple evidence-based practices including CBT, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and a variety of techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
My focus
My experience includes, but is not limited to, working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, mood lability, trauma, low self-esteem, daily stress, life transitions, divorce, family issues, and interpersonal conflicts.

My approach to counseling is rooted in empathy, genuineness, unconditional positive regard, active listening, and non-judgment.

My biggest strength, I believe, is my genuine care and concern for others. To me, there is nothing more important in life than helping our fellow human beings.

I take a collaborative approach to treatment planning, working with individuals to identify clear, achievable, goals based on their specific needs.
My first session with you
In the first session, my main goal is to help the individual feel welcomed, comfortable, safe, heard and validated. I will complete a psychosocial assessment which will provide a holistic understanding of the individual along with presenting issues. We will also discuss consent to treatment along with expectations and roles.
