My approach
I take a compassionate approach to counseling, one that is authentic and trustworthy. Counseling is a partnership -you need someone who hears you, respects you, and will support you. I take the extra time to provide resources, researching community links for whole person-centered care.
My focus
I am trained in several modalities: Trauma counseling for those affected by neglect and abuse, critical incidents, domestic violence, war, and combat, including PTSD. I have cognitive behavioral training in mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, and I have experience treating older adults with aging-related issues.
My communication style
I encourage a safe, nurturing environment free of judgment. I get to the bottom of what's troubling you and use all the resources I can find to help support you and guide you to a happier you, and the life you want. It's a collaborative process.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started out in another career working in Congress. In my work there, I helped veterans struggling with war-related injuries. I worked with their families, their Doctors, and the V.A. to help others get the care they needed. That experience moved me deeply, so after leaving Congress, I went back to grad school to get a degree in Social Work and clinical therapy. So I could help others.
