Hi there, I'm Mira!

I am Mira Lutz, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Using a direct approach, I help clients identify areas of challenge, barriers to change, and individual strengths to achieve positive changes in each client's life for the individual/family.

My approach

I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I incorporate the values of each client to best tailor treatment. I incorporate emotion-focused, strategic, experiential therapies, IFS and CBT. I focus on clients' unique strengths and work with each one to help them discover the highest level of mental health and wellness they can achieve.

My focus

I work with clients from age 16 up through all walks of life. I have worked with clients on overcoming depression, anxiety, panic, trauma, life changes, identity issues and more. While my expertise is in couple's therapy, I have worked with many individuals and families.

My communication style

I am fairly direct in my approach. I am a laid back therapist, in that I believe the client sets their goals and needs for sessions. I stay authentic to who I am as a person and believe in a collaborative approach in which the client is the expert of their life

My journey to mental healthcare

I was always fascinated with psychology and how the mind impacts the body and the way each individual perceives the world. I noticed that often our own perceptions impact the way we communication and receive/internalize information - good, bad or indifferent. I was drawn to couples therapy as I noticed the nuances of communication and metacommunication often got couples stuck and challenged with negativity. I want to be there to help untangle those wires and reframe for my clients to see or understand something in a different light

My goals for you

I believe the client identifies their own individuals needs to guide our sessions. I use goals as a roadmap for where we want therapy to go, however the client is the driver and I am here to help find alternative and healthful routes

My first session with you

During our first session, I want to learn as much about you as possible! I will ask a lot of questions (about your history, family, life experiences, hobbies, challenges etc) and I am open to answer any questions you have as well! I like to make a "game plan" during the first session, addressing some of your goals and discussing how therapy will go for both of us
