My name is Amber Moyo. I am an LPC in Colorado and an LPC-MHSP-S in Tennessee. I specialize in treating trauma and anxiety-related disorders. My primary approach to therapy is one based in psychoeducation, compassion, and building tools for resilience.
My approach
Adlerian, CBT, and EMDR
My focus
My experience and speciality is with clients that have experienced trauma and are left struggling with the effects, including anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms.
My communication style
My goal is to create an environment where clients can be themselves and feel supported. I am authentic and encourage my clients to do the same. I communicate with compassion and support but back it up with psychoeducation and gentle thought challenging.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became interested in being a therapist when I was in my undergraduate program. As I explored psychology and sociology, I learned that there is a huge need for mental health support in the world. After earning my degree, I obtained my Master of Arts in Counseling. I started my career working with children who have experienced sexual abuse, transitioned to working with kids in a variety of settings, then settled into a clinic where I started my work with adults. I got trained in EMDR and solidified my passion for working with people who have experienced trauma at some point in their lives. I love teaching clients about trauma, the brain, and how trauma affects us. This helps us learn how to recover, heal, and live a more fulfilling future.
My goals for you
I like to set goals in a collaborative way and review the goals throughout treatment to make sure we are on the right path.
My first session with you
In the first session, I like to get to know you and hear the struggles you are living with every day.
