My name is Mary Sudyka and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. I primary use cognitive behavioral therapy in practice but often to pull from other therapy approaches and taylor my approaches to my clients needs. I currently work with ages 12 and up with diagnosis ranging from anxiety, depression, post trauma stress disorder, attention deficit disorders, personality disorder, and anyone in the LBGTQIA++ community needing support.
My approach
I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy, client centered, motivational interviewing and solution-focused approaches when working with clients. I am very family system focused and believe people are impacted and influenced by the system they live and interact with.
My focus
I am willing to see any one ages 12 for individual therapy and do offer family therapy. I am happy to see clients experiencing anxiety, depression, symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, mood disorders, attention deficit disorder and anyone needing extra support identifying as LBGTQIA++.
My communication style
I like to create a safe, warm and welcoming environment for my clients. As your therapist I will be in your corner both to support you and give you honest and hard truths. I am direct in my approach but will guide you in a gentle way to understand things about yourself and the system in which you exist in.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have known since I was fifteen that I wanted to support and give back to people. The impact therapists can have on a human can be tremendous. Watching people take their lives back and overcome mental illnesses is the most empowering thing I have ever witnessed.
My goals for you
I allow my clients to explore and express areas of their life that they want to focus on and improve in. If I see opportunities to grow in other areas, I also will gently suggest working on certain areas for growth.
My first session with you
In our first session, I will gain an understanding of your reason for seeking therapy. I will also complete a thorough history and will identify areas on your timeline that might be areas of focus in our work together.
