Hey there, my name is Sydney Focht, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. While I have experience and training in a variety of therapeutic modalities, I prefer to conduct most of my sessions from a person-centered perspective. My style of therapy usually involves a blend of authenticity, compassion, and creating a safe space for us to explore the hard-hitting questions.
My approach
In general, my approach to therapy varies from client to client based on their individual circumstances. However, I typically pull from theories such as IFS, MI, and CBT as this combination seems to help my clients identify the areas of their life they want to change, identify what limiting beliefs are holding them back, and deepening their understanding of "why" this is how they feel and how they would like to move forward with more awareness and intention.
My focus
I am open to working with anyone who is looking to better understand themselves and explore what a change in perspective might feel like. My clinical experience has focused primarily on adults ages ~20-60 years old with my areas of specialty generally falling under the umbrella of general anxiety, depression, and self-esteem.
My communication style
My clients come to understand and to trust that I will always have a warm, genuine, and "no judgment" approach to all interactions. We are all flawed, we are all imperfect, and I am no different! I make a point to model this realness and normalize the struggle of being a human when I can. By establishing this trust, I have found it makes the therapeutic work more impactful and long-lasting.
