I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Colorado with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. I have been in the mental health field for 10 years. My experience includes working with kids, teens, and families, and adults from diverse backgrounds in school and outpatient settings.
My approach
I use a combination of DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), TF-CBT (trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy), and narrative therapy. With kids, I integrate therapeutic play, mindfulness, and art activities.
My focus
I have worked with a wide range of human experiences including anxiety, depression, substance use, stress, trauma, and ethnic and racial identity issues. I use a collaborative approach with my clients to work on coping skills, emotion regulation skills, boundary setting and communication skills, and building self-esteem.
My communication style
In my sessions, I aim to create a warm and welcoming environment where clients feel safe to express themselves. I believe that each client is the expert of their own life, and my role is to collaborate with them as a guide, offering tools that can help them navigate their journey to achieve their therapeutic goals. I strive to empower and support my clients and encourage them to explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace.
My journey to mental healthcare
I believe human connection facilitates growth. I am amazed by the resilience of people in dark times, and I am honored to be able to support clients in their journeys of growth and transformation.
My goals for you
I take a collaborative, strength based approach to goal setting with clients. I work with clients to explore what they are hoping to change or achieve through therapy. I will regularly review goals in sessions to ensure we are making progress, and to allow flexibility to adjust goals as needed.
My first session with you
During our first session, clients can expect a warm and open environment where they can share their story. The initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin a therapeutic relationship. It is also a time where I will gather information about what brings the client to therapy, and who they are as a person. I will ask clients questions around goal setting, background information, support system, cultural information, etc. While I ask many questions during a first session, I also want to allow space for clients to identify their goals, express thoughts about therapy, and ask any questions about the therapeutic process.
