My name is Heather and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Colorado. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, occupational distress, interpersonal relations, time and stress management, life adjustments, trauma, and military related challenges. I approach therapy as a collaborative relationship where client and therapist work together to achieve SMART goals while allowing the client to maintain their autonomy.
My approach
I utilize several evidence-based practices in the therapeutic setting that include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, trauma focused interventions, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, person centered therapy, and supportive interventions.
My focus
As an Army Veteran, I have years of experience working with military service members and their family members. I have experience treating military specific mental health concerns as well as other areas of concern that include anxiety, depression, and life transitions to name a few.
My communication style
I tend to create an environment where I meet the client where they are in the therapeutic process. I match my client's level of comfort to minimize the possibility of them becoming overwhelmed. The intent is to create an environment where they feel safe to be open to the process and increase the likelihood of them allowing themselves to be vulnerable.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always had an immense desire to help others make significant and lasting improvements in their lives to achieve their goals and live a life they deserve. I have experienced challenges and witnessed others do the same, and it is my goal to aid in helping others become empowered to make real changes in their lives.
My goals for you
The client and I will develop SMART Goals based on the clients desired outcome which include specific objectives. Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Time-Based
My first session with you
Expect to be asked several questions to gather a complete biological, psychological, and sociological (biopsychsocial) history to develop a holistic and comprehensive understanding of the client's unique life experiences. This process assists with determining the client's baseline and development of treatment goals.
