I have been a licensed marriage and family therapist since 2009. In that time I have had the pleasure of working with adults and teenagers in various settings all with their own unique personalities. I have experience using Solution focused therapy, Narrative therapy, Gestalt therapy, Structural Family therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for anxiety issues and working with people with trauma.
My approach
I like to view therapy as a partnership. I am here to work with you and help on the things in your life that have been causing you stress. Whether that be communication issues with a partner, at work, or with a friend. If you are dealing with depression, or struggling with self esteem and self confidence issues and how you feel you present yourself to the world, struggling with loneliness and trying to navigate the new post COVID world, or maybe you are experiencing anxiety and are not sure how to manage it or your experience of it. You are the expert on you and together we can figure out how to negotiate what is going on in your life and get you to a place where you feel comfortable.
My focus
I typically work with adults who are dealing depression, anxiety, grief, and transitioning to new life stages.
My communication style
I like to create an open communication style of therapy. One where you will feel comfortable talking with me and I with you. Working with me should feel comfortable, at times I will push you to identify your patterns and push past them, however we do this together.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been in this field for over 20 years. I have worked in many settings, but providing private therapy is the most rewarding because I am able to, hopefully, make an impact in someone's life, so they can fully experience all their emotions and their life in general and that's what drives me to continue this work.
My goals for you
I believe, and have had great success at, working with clients to set goals as a team. People come to therapy because they feel like things aren't going well in their life or something isn't right and they are looking for support. Goal setting, in my opinion, should be the same way.
My first session with you
A first session is an intake session. This is where I share information about HIPAA, what it means to be a mandated reporter, what the policies are and there are a lot of initial questions that I ask in an attempt to get to know my new client so that I can get a better understanding of why someone is coming to therapy now and how I think I can help.
