Hi, I'm Brittany Murphy, LCSW, LCDC a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I am licensed to practice social work Colorado, New Jersey, Texas, and Washington. I earned my Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Houston. Prior to becoming a therapist/social worker, I worked in the corporate business world for several years. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
My approach
I have experience working with adolescents and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I provide individual and family therapy, and I also enjoy running psychotherapy and skills classes. I use various approaches including psychodynamic theory, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT); Radically Open Dialectal Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM); Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT); and Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT).
My focus
I typically work with 13 year olds to 70 year olds across mental health and substance use problems. I am most comfortable treating substance use disorders, behavioral issues, trauma disorders and responses, family problems, boundary problems, life changes, relationship and sex related issues, conditions of overcontrol, and facilitating grief work.
My communication style
I believe the tone of my sessions can de defined as direct, flexible, and supportive. Working with me is often a mix of processing, education, encouragement, feedback, and goal directed.

My goals for you
Goal setting for me is addressed during the initial intake and then is reviewed every few months with the client. At that point goals are adjusted as needed. I use evidence based tools to provide client with tangible skills to achieve their goals.
