Hi there, I'm Roger!

Life is difficult and, at times, messy. No one is exempt, and we all have a story to tell. When one is reaching out to another, I want to assist that person’s narrative and be part of their healing process. I am a retired US Marine Officer and president of my own private practice. My own background brings a unique set of skills to clients and family members impacted by trauma. I have worked extensively for over 25 years with families from many diverse backgrounds as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Starting as a mental health clinician with Stanislaus County, California, I provided therapeutic services to Child Welfare’s Family Preservation Unit. I served as the Forensics Mental Health Program Coordinator for the Mentally Ill Offender Crime Reduction Grant and Restoration to Trial Competency Programs. In addition, I also was a team member of Stanislaus County Probation Department’s FOCUS Program, which emphasized services to the families of those persons involved in the criminal justice system. Finally, I also served on the Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Risk Assessment and Crisis Response Teams. After the war broke out in Afghanistan and Iraq, I felt the call to support veterans returning from combat deployment. I was privileged to be part of TriWest’s Healthcare Embedded Professional to National Guard units returning from deployment. This pilot program was highly successful and today is a model for many National Guard units in the country. I then went to work for the Veterans Affairs Modesto Vet Center. There I worked as a Readjustment Counseling Therapist until my retirement. I continue to see Veterans and others impacted by trauma, including family members. I graduated from California State University, Stanislaus, in 1976. I hold advanced degrees in Education and Counseling Psychology from National University. I completed the Clinician Training at the VA’s National PTSD Center in Menlo Park. My greatest passion is being a husband, father, and grandfather. I also make time to exercise, hike, kayak, and enjoy the good company of family and friends.
