Hello, my name is Sophia Gonzalez and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I am located in Southern California and work with clients throughout the state via Telehealth. I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy.
My approach
The therapeutic approach that I most frequently use is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I find that explaining how CBT works helps us to be on the same page and develop a stronger therapeutic relationship to work together to achieve your goals.
My focus
My style and approach are a good fit for adolescents and young through older adults, dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, stress, and/or trauma. I will help you better understand your thoughts/feelings/behaviors, by helping you develop tools and build skills to navigate daily life more effectively and feel better.
My communication style
My communication style includes active listening and empathy, and I clearly convey information and provide feedback. I believe that this combination creates an environment where you will feel safe to be open and honest, which is essential for success.
My journey to mental healthcare
Helping others is my purpose in life. I fell in love with psychology when I took my first psychology class in high school. Being a therapist was a natural fit, as I had always been the person that family and friends would turn to when they needed to talk. I passionately pursued my education and training to become licensed as soon as possible. I would love to bring my passion and experience to your particular situation so that you too can experience the joy that comes with personal growth.

Goals are based on your individual needs. We will work together to identify specific and realistic goals as well as the steps necessary to achieve them. Progress towards these goals is continually evaluated throughout our journey together.

In our first session, I will spend some time learning more about you and what brings you to therapy. It is important to know how you have been feeling and its impact on your daily life. This session is your chance to see my style and get an idea of how therapy will proceed.
