My name is Veronica Loera, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I am a certified EMDR therapist, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). In addition to working with clients that experience trauma, I have also had the opportunity to work with clients that experience other life challenges including, but not limited to life transitions such as divorce or loss, reactions to severe stress, and relationship issues.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is based on my training in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, family systems, EMDR, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness stress reduction.
My focus
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I work with individuals who are dealing with the following challenges: Early childhood trauma such as abuse or neglect, recent traumatic events such as a catastrophic loss, accidents or personal injury, violence in a community, intimate partner violence, anxiety, depression
My communication style
I lean into the therapy session by trying to understand where you are in your healing journey now. I will meet you where you are with compassion, respect, support, and non-judgment. I work in collaboration with each and every client to ensure that you feel that you have choices in how you move through your healing journey.
My journey to mental healthcare
Early on in my education and training, I knew with certainty that I wanted to be in the helping profession. My interest in helping people came from a desire to empower others with the knowledge and skills I gained through my own healing journey. My healing journey has been guided by loved ones, friends, teachers, mentors, and therapists. Healing myself has helped me to have grace toward myself and others. Before getting into the helping profession, I was inspired to become an educator by a beloved teacher and friend. I came to the realization that I could fulfill my desire to teach by guiding others in their mental health journey as a therapist. I have had the privilege to serve in the mental health field for the past 20 years.
My goals for you
Goal setting is approached by first identifying the issues the client is ready to address using the SMART approach- Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound.
My first session with you
In the initial session, clients can expect to have a safe non-judgmental space to talk and release what is keeping them feeling stuck. Clients are also provided with information about initial clinical findings and treatment approaches.
