Hello, my name is Dona J. Clair and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
My approach
You are the expert in your life! I see myself as a partner and support, encouraging you to achieve your goals. I use such modalities as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus Therapy, Strength Based, and Mindfulness. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, chronic illness (specifically autoimmune issues), grief, and life transitions.
My focus
My focus is working with individuals who are attempting to find inner peace and healing and who want to make positive changes in their lives. I specifically enjoy working with those struggling with chronic illness. I know how isolating and frustrating it can be when one attempts to manage illness and I want to be a support.
My communication style
I believe that we all grow and thrive with support, encouragement, and validation. I strive to provide a warm and accepting environment for my clients. I want to celebrate with you as you overcome obstacles and create the life that you desire, one that includes healthy relationships, self-acceptance, and peace.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was drawn to become a therapist because I love to help others and encourage them. I know firsthand the relief and comfort it is to have someone encouraging me and partnering with me through life's challenges. I want to be that for you!
My goals for you
I consider successful care and progress in therapy to be if we can establish a partnership focused on you achieving balance, peace, and self-acceptance. My hope is that you discover effective tools to experience all the good that life has to offer with the assurance that you can handle the tough times that life sometimes gives.
My first session with you
Your first session with me will be one of introduction and exploration into what challenges may have prompted you to take the courageous step of seeking therapy. I will enquire as to your personal strengths, what you have done in the past that has helped you achieve satisfaction as well as what may have gotten in the way of you achieving your goals. I will ask about your current supports so that, if needed, we can build upon them. As I am a relationally trained therapist, it will be important to understand how you view your current relationships and how you can improve upon them.
