As the firstborn in a family of 5 siblings, I have naturally gravitated into the role of a helper. I have long held a love and fascination for mental health.
My approach
I have come to learn that our current behaviors are the result of our life experiences. Change is difficult but with self-compassion and acceptance, it can be done. I am most comfortable with a cognitive-behavioral approach, however, I recognize that flexibility is essential. For that reason, I have no problem incorporating other modalities.
My focus
Adults, adolescents, kids, families/couples.
My communication style
My tone and demeanor are friendly. I promote self-compassion and acceptance.
My journey to mental healthcare
I believe that I was drawn to therapy early on. I don't think that I was aware of that until college when I was completely fascinated with psychology courses. Since then, I have become a lifelong learner.
My goals for you
Successful care and progress are determined by the clients. I follow the client's lead when it comes to determining the effectiveness of treatment.
My first session with you
First sessions can be uncomfortable because of the nature of the interaction - the clinician asks personal questions and the client is expected to feel comfortable answering them. I acknowledge that and make every effort to make the first session as welcoming as possible.
