My name is Janet Reynoso, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Over my career as a therapist, I have worked with individuals who have experienced trauma and are working towards healing. My primary goal is to build trust and a strong alliance with a client in order to assist them in the process of change.
My approach
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my primary approach to providing therapy. CBT is an evidence-based treatment that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. By helping clients develop healthier thinking patterns and coping strategies, I aim to empower them to manage their mental health. My approach includes looking at how generational trauma and our family system can impact us as individuals. I aim to strive towards empowerment and a strength-based approach. This approach is grounded in the belief that clients have the innate capacity for self-understanding and growth. I prioritize unique needs and experiences. I provide active listening, support, and empathy while encouraging my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings openly.
My focus
My client focus is typically individual sessions with children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and substance use. Sessions will be tailored to the individual's needs and identified goals.
My communication style
My communication style is aimed at creating a safe, therapeutic environment. Building rapport is essential to building a therapeutic alliance. I am to ensure clients feel heard, seen, and respected. This supportive atmosphere is important to assist clients with developing coping strategies, building resilience, and navigating challenges.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a Therapist began before pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I worked primarily with underserved, underprivileged children and adults. I worked with victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, and foster youth. Since obtaining my Master's, I have worked with a variety of different areas, including high-risk youth, substance use treatment, and military families. My dedication to this field is driven by a commitment to empower others, facilitate healing, and promote lasting positive change in their lives.
My goals for you
As a Therapist, I approach goal setting as a client-centered and collaborative approach. Walking alongside the client to identify values, strengths, and obtainable goals like increasing self-esteem and developing coping strategies.
My first session with you
A first session with me is an opportunity for both of us to get a feel for one another and build rapport. I will ask some intake-type questions, but I am more interested in learning what brings a client to therapy at this time. It is important for a client to feel safe and heard to start a therapeutic alliance.
