My name is Candice Fuimaono and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I use my background, education, and lived experience to help clients learn coping skills and new ways to decrease their symptoms using skills they learn in therapy.
My approach
I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I help clients learn to identify problem behaviors and thinking patterns and incorporate new ways to cope.
My focus
I have 7 years of experience working with adolescents and adults experiencing severe mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm.
My communication style
I'll be honest, therapy can be difficult at first. You meet a stranger and are expected to tell them your secrets. In my experience, it takes several sessions to trust a therapist enough to feel comfortable so I like to spend that time getting to know each other. I will never push someone to talk about an experience they are not ready to share.
My journey to mental healthcare
My life experiences with personal and family struggles are what led me to where I am today. I believe it is important to take what I have learned and share it with others.
My goals for you
Clients must set therapy goals from the start as they allow us to focus on specific problem areas and monitor progress along the way.
My first session with you
The first few sessions will be us getting comfortable with and learning about one another.
