My name is Stefani Collins and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in West Covina, CA. I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults in achieving their goals and overcoming life's challenges. I approach therapeutic interventions primarily through the lenses of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
My approach
I most often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. However, I am familiar with many theoretical approaches and will tailor the treatment plan according to the individual needs of each client.
My focus
I focus my practice on working with adolescents and young adults. There are a lot of major transitions during this period of life, and I enjoy helping others navigate those challenges. Many of the clients I serve experience adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and/or interpersonal conflict.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and accepting. I work to build a strong rapport with my clients to create a therapeutic relationship wherein they feel comfortable being open without the fear of judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was drawn to the field of mental health after growing up experiencing the mental health struggles of family members. I became interested in psychology because it helped me gain a better understanding of others' thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. I pursued a career as a therapist because I wanted to use that knowledge and understanding to help others. Witnessing clients achieve greater insight and personal growth is a rewarding experience.
My goals for you
I work collaboratively with clients to develop goals for treatment. You are the expert of your own life, and you get to determine what you would like to gain from therapy.
My first session with you
In our first session together, I would like to spend some time getting to know you, and understanding your desire to begin therapy. We will establish goals for treatment, and work together to develop a plan.
