My name is Katrina Bobo and I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist in the state of California. I am also a board-certified art therapist and am passionate about the integration of therapy and creative outlets. I focus on trauma recovery and the personalized implementation of therapeutic approaches to customize the experience for each unique individual.
My approach
I am trained in trauma-informed therapy with specialized training in art therapy, DBT, CBT, ACT, IFS, Narrative therapy, play therapy, and Moral Resonation Therapy.
My focus
I enjoy working with a wide range of individuals to create a personalized therapy plan that begins with getting to know each other while building skills. I am confident in treating PTSD, Anxiety disorders, Depression, Bipolar disorder, perceptual disorders (including Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorder), OCD, conduct disorders, and adjustment disorders.
My communication style
I create a calm and safe environment where clients can feel free to communicate in whatever way is most comfortable for them. I approach therapy through a collaborative lens and expect the client to be an active participant.
My journey to mental healthcare
I began my educational journey wanting to be a nurse, and then a designer. I learned that my reason for seeking education and a future career was to help others. I once sought the support of a therapist and was crushed by what they told me and how they approached my problems. I was greatly impacted by this experience and it drove me to seek this career to help ensure that no one ever felt the way I did that day after seeking the help of a professional. I continue to be driven to pursue this work because I can see the positive changes in others and enjoy joining my clients on their journey to stable mental health.
My goals for you
Goal setting is an active and ongoing process where we set small and attainable goals in a collaborative environment that honors each individual's values.
My first session with you
During the first session, you should expect to share why you are seeking therapy and past experiences with therapy. I view the first session as an opportunity to get to know you and for you to get to know me and my approach to therapy.
