Hi there, I'm Ann!

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with adult individuals with attachment and developmental trauma, PTSD recent traumatic events, and anxiety using mind-body approaches and attachment-informed EMDR via telehealth.

My approach

I've noticed that a lot of people with trauma and anxiety seem to benefit from using attachment-informed EMDR and parts work approaches that help you get to know the inner parts of yourself. Using a combination of these approaches can help with resolving inner conflict, connecting that sense of the "inner child" to healing and resources, and increasing inner strength and a sense of agency in your life decisions. I will use guided imagery in therapy and like to focus on the mind and body connection. I am also a big fan of weaving in values and mindfulness-based cognitive approaches from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

My focus

I feel that older adults (Gen X) will likely find it easy to relate to me. I am open to working with all adults, but my area of focus is adults who have had difficult childhoods with abuse, neglect, and generational trauma. Recent traumatic birth experiences and pet loss and grief are another area of focus that I find adults need extra care and validation for.

My communication style

I bring an open, empathic non-judgmental presence to therapy. People who know me often say that I am a good listener who can sit with people at their worst and be present with them when they are in that space. I am generally quiet but I focus on being attuned, understanding how the pieces fit, and bringing you back to safety.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey as a therapist comes from humility and amazement of witnessing the human condition's ability and drive to adapt, change, and thrive after less-than-ideal beginnings. Being a therapist is an honor and privilege. I am excited to guide clients in meeting their inner strength and seeing them realize the possibilities in their lives. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is seeing when clients realize that they are meeting their own goals and are ready for the next chapter in their life when therapy ends.

My goals for you

I believe in a collaborative approach to goal setting. You tell me what you hope life looks like after therapy and I do my best to navigate us on how to get there. Teamwork is vital to the way I like to work. I think it's important to remain flexible and in regular communication about what your goals look like, as life events unfold.

My first session with you

I provide a safe, accepting space so that you will feel comfortable sharing your concerns with me at your own pace and to whatever depth you are comfortable with. Through hearing your story, I will start to get a picture of what your challenges are and what approaches I bring that can help. We will establish what goals you would like to see happen with therapy.
