As a clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience, I offer an individualized combination of person-centered therapy with practical techniques, such as cognitive behavior therapy, behavior activation and stress-reduction, and mindfulness strategies for improving your mental and emotional life and daily function.
My approach
In person-centered therapy, the basic idea is that individuals have great resources for understanding themselves and for changing self-concepts and attitudes that can lead to positive changes in behavior. This understanding can be life-changing and even life-saving. During therapy, we explore your relevant history, current situation, emotional responses, and life view.
My focus
I work with individual adults and families. Areas of specialization include anxiety problems, obsessive-compulsive disorder, acute and long-term depression, suicidal ideation, grief, job stress, low self-esteem, relationship issues, sleep disorders, and issues related to neurodivergent disorders.
My communication style
I listen closely to understand your perspective. My communication approach is warm, collaborative, and focused on creating a safe space for you to share openly. I offer both supportive reflection and practical guidance tailored to your needs, to help you gain clarity and make positive changes.
My journey to mental healthcare
I earned my Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Kansas in May 1985.
My goals for you
We examine current difficulties you may be facing that negatively impact your functioning in personal relationships, in your job performance, in completing daily activities, in your physical health or simply being able to enjoy your life. Therapy can feel like real work, but the rewards are worth the effort.
My first session with you
I can help you get started on your path to wellness. At this time, I have available time slots on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
