Hi there--my name is Meera, although I go by Kali. I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and use an integrative approach for issues with emotional regulation, depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment/relationship issues, and parenting struggles.
My approach
I use an approach that combines Object Relations, Somatic, and Internal Family Systems. I am informed by the Yogic framework and incorporate elements of mindfulness in order to develop awareness and resolve emotional hurdles.
My focus
I work broadly with adults who are feeling stuck and overwhelmed. In order to resolve these blocks, I work with clients to resolve various kinds of trauma including attachment, family of origin, sexual assault, domestic violence, immigration, or religion.
My communication style
I believe in collaborating to create a space that feels safe and empowers us to be our authentic selves. Developing this trusting space, free of judgment or rejection, helps us to resolve any traumatic or historical condition that blocks access to our true selves.
My journey to mental healthcare
My focus during the first session is to understand your journey and what brought you in at this moment in time. I also think that it is important to feel connected and aligned when we are in the therapy space, so I place great value in building that foundation for a fruitful therapeutic relationship.
My goals for you
As a woman, a person of color, an immigrant, and a mother, I have had my own hurdles in finding and embodying my authenticity and truth. External disapproval, hate, and cultural forces have been deterrents in my own journey. With support from my community, love from my chosen family, and finding the strength to heal my traumas, I have been able to find my path--both connected to others but also uniquely mine.
My first session with you
I believe that resolving current hurdles is the most effective way to move towards long-term goals. Thus, I will work collaboratively with clients to decide what feels most present for them as they walk into the session, and what they would like to work on.
