I am excited to introduce myself to you. My name is Stacy Cordero, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, #142545. It can be uncomfortable to begin therapy. The foundation must include a safe space in which I consider it my responsibility to work hard in building. A productive therapeutic relationship is built on trust and mutual respect.
My approach
You are your own expert. As a therapist, I am here to walk alongside you as you navigate your journey. I am truly eclectic in my approach in that I believe I serve clients best when I meet them where they are. I am client-focused and work to pull from multiple theoretical approaches to support clients as unique individuals.
My focus
I have an extensive background working with individuals affected by relationship challenges. Our connections to others are complex and vital throughout our lives - no matter how young or how old.
My communication style
As an individual, whether in session, in a hallway with co-workers, in a high-stakes meeting, as well as with my family/friends, I work hard to be authentic in my words and my actions. I am direct, honest, awkward at times, and tend to be goofy. It is important to be able to feel comfortable in communication in the therapeutic setting in order for us to verbalize the thoughts and feelings we work so hard to conceal from the world.
My journey to mental healthcare
I am naturally curious about people, and what motivates behavior and I want to know the why. Throughout my life, I have been fascinated by the power of relational connection. I fiercely believe all individuals deserve to be heard and seen for who they are.
My goals for you
I meet clients where they are at and we go from there. It is important to set goals that are healthy, manageable, and attainable. I want to know why someone has a goal in mind - to establish what a certain goal represents. The goal is not necessarily a measure of success - in therapy, the journey is what matters most.
My first session with you
When I sit with a client for the first time, there are certain topics that I am legally and ethically mandated to cover. However, once we get through that, it should feel like we are sitting down for a chat to get to know one another. I am truly interested in getting to know people as the individuals they are. I am thankful to have such a profound opportunity.
