Hi! My name is Yesenia Orozco-Vasquez. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Los Angeles, California with ample experience working with children, teens, parents, and young adults. I specialize in anxiety, depression, and life transitions and utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) practices to build my clients' strengths and improve their interpersonal relationships.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies depending on the needs of each client. I often use a strengths-based and cognitive behavioral approach in my practice so that clients gain a clear understanding of what is contributing to their distress and how we can work together to help them feel better.
My focus
Much of my clinical training has been as a community and school-based therapist and as such I have had the opportunity to work with many children, teens, parents, community, and school partners dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, and life changes. I am also an accredited Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) provider and have helped many parents enhance their parenting and develop a more positive relationship with their children.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, supportive, and collaborative. I aim to create a safe environment in which my clients can feel safe and heard without having to worry that they will be judged or dismissed in any way. Engaging in the therapeutic process can feel daunting for many which is why I strive to earn my clients' trust in the process.
My journey to mental healthcare
I chose to become a therapist because I have always enjoyed helping others find ways to find their path to resilience. Growing up I was able to witness the impact that positive relationships (mentors, teachers, therapists, etc) can have on building that resiliency and I strive to do that in my practice. As human beings, we can all feel 'stuck' at times and I find satisfaction in helping others find their true potential and see the light out of the tunnel.
My goals for you
I see goal setting as a collaborative process with my clients. I explore my client's needs and expectations of our time together and help them identify specific goals that work for them.
My first session with you
The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of how you have been feeling recently and why you may be feeling that way. I will be asking many questions to get to know more about you and gain some understanding as to what may be contributing to how you have been feeling.
