I believe that healing, growth, and change are available to all people, regardless of their present circumstances or their past misfortune. I utilize a collaborative approach to therapy to work with clients to understand both their challenges and their goals, and to find a viable way to help each client make changes for the better along the psychological, social, and biological axes of life.
My approach
I operate from a trauma-informed perspective: I understand that a history of trauma can severely undermine mental health in many different ways. However, I firmly believe that despite its terrible power, the legacy of trauma can be understood, addressed, and overcome. My approach incorporates cognitive processing, mindfulness, and attachment-based techniques to encourage healing while identifying and overcoming challenges to happiness and well-being.
My focus
I am able to work with individuals and minors (ages 13-17). My specialties include anxiety, depression, grief, LGBTQIA+ issues, relationship issues, self-esteem, sexual abuse, stress, suicidal ideation, transgender issues, trauma, and PTSD.
My communication style
I understand that mental health may be severely affected by systemic barriers and prejudices based on ethnicity, gender, sexuality, immigration status, socioeconomic status, and numerous other intersecting identities, and I practice therapy with an awareness of the unique stressors that may arise from these circumstances.
My goals for you
My goal is to assist clients with developing insight into their own thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behavior, and to collaborate to find areas of agency where positive change is possible.
