My name is Victoria Ferdinand-Gant, I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been licensed since 2018 in California and have worked in the field of psychology and child and family services since 1997 (US and Internationally).
My approach
I am an eclectic therapist and will meet clients where they're at but my primary modalities are Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution focused skills, and Motivational work. I also enjoy working with couples.
My focus
The primary population I work with is in the treatment of anxiety and trauma. I also enjoy working with veterans since I am military-raised.
My communication style
I provide a calm and welcoming environment with open and honest communication. If a client needs to vent, they are free to do so.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was initially drawn to the field of psychology due to witnessing my father's PTSD from the Vietnam War, witnessing untreated anxiety in multiple family members as a child, and realizing that I could utilize my first career as a professional dancer, to assist clients with energy work.
My goals for you
Clients decide what their goals in treatment will be, although the goal of DBT bring increased emotion regulation, mindfulness skills, and goal achievement through rational decision-making, assists with most treatment goals.
My first session with you
The first session will be assessment, gathering of historical information, risk assessment, and goal setting.
