Hello and welcome! I am Donna Christianson, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #128453. I have worked extensively with one-on-one training from professionals within the field treating highly traumatized patients and dissociative disorders. I am certified as a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP) to treat anxiety disorders including obsessive-compulsive disorder. I believe what was hurt in relationships can heal in relationships. Let's start!
My approach
For over 8 years, I have worked with adolescents, adults, and couples with a wide range of difficulties. I work from a holistic foundation to treatment while using techniques from Relational psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, sensory-motor Humanistic/Existential approaches, and other models to treat a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, eating disorders, personality disorders and dissociative disorders. I have worked extensively with one-on-one training from professionals within the field treating highly traumatized patients and dissociative disorders.
My focus
We live in a world that is frequently unstable and stressful; whether it’s the economy or natural disasters...life is hard. In my experience, the clients that I see bring in a wide range of concerns which include but are not limited to; struggling with life transitions, conflict in relationships, spirituality, existential concerns, generational family trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, grief, trauma and struggles with loving the body you live in. With curiosity, warmth, and empathy, I offer a safe space for reflection, exploration, and working through the challenges that we face in life.
My communication style
As a therapist, I do my best to walk beside you down your path of healing. It is my role to be a collaborator and help each everyone to develop consciousness surrounding their experience to promote integration. I am very direct as a therapist and treat psychotherapy as a conversation to explore your experience in order to promote mindful experiences in an ever-growing unconscious world. The foundation of the therapeutic work with me are safety, consent, nonjudgment, and empathy. This is the space where healing can begin and we all can flourish.
My first session with you
I understand that many people have never been to therapy before which is why I use the first session to go over any questions that you may have, discuss expectations, and set goals. The first session is a time for me to get to know you and for you to get to know me. Everyone has a story to tell, we all have pain to heal, and in the first session is where we start walking down that path.
