Guy E. Washington, Psy.D. I prefer an integrative approach to treatment, as there is no one model or technique that fits everyone. Therefore, it is imperative to connect and collaborate with clients to better understand their needs.
My approach
I utilize Cognitive models, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, Family systems, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Understanding that all behavior is learned and what has been learned can be unlearned or modified resulting in different outcomes and consequences.
My focus
I work with a variety of client types but not limited to those experiencing depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, interpersonal difficulties, relationship challenges, and those experiencing severe mental illness.
My communication style
I work from a very collaborative and empowering work platform, providing psycho-educational material and information as needed to better inform and equip clients to self-manage situations.
My journey to mental healthcare
A desire to better understand behavior and the cognitive processes that drive those behaviors.
My goals for you
Asking open-ended questions to ascertain presenting concerns while developing a better understanding of any underlying conditions that may be contributing to the overall problem. Then develop a treatment plan addressing the clients' goals with measurable objectives.
My first session with you
A collaborative and supportive environment aimed at establishing a strong therapeutic alliance for future work together.
