My name is Lashone Brown, License # LCSW 74969, and my approach to therapy centers around how one's thoughts, beliefs and attitude impact one's feelings and actions. It is a cognitive behavioral therapy approach with the goal of teaching coping skills for life. My area of focus is health and primarily assisting those with physical and emotional challenges.
My approach
I utilize a therapeutic approach that includes but is not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Case Management, Coaching, Strength Based, Patient-Centered, System Theory, and Positive Psychology.
My focus
I have experience working with clients with chronic illness, suffering from loss and grief, anxiety, and depression.
My communication style
From the start, it is my goal to provide a healthy, empowering, and supportive environment for communicating. A safe place where you feel heard and can take steps on the path to solutions for problems.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey at its core is about helping people succeed by addressing the barriers hindering their achievement of success. I have a philosophy that states people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. I can see the impact that COVID had and is having on society with the isolation and lack of support people are experiencing. From our youth to the elderly, no one is unaffected, and our adolescents appear hardest hit. I believe that I can make a difference and help someone suffering. While I can't save clients, I might be able to help one parent, help one child, and help one person be better today than they were yesterday. That is the journey I am on.
My goals for you
Goals are established with collaboration and support to the client. They are the clients and belong to them. I will assist in helping them focus and achieve them.
My first session with you
The first session is about fit. It is an opportunity for the client to ask questions and that better helps them know I am the right therapist for them. It is also time for me to ask questions to understand why the client is seeking therapy now. It is the first step on the road to addressing the client's challenges or concerns.
