Roger Quinney 16707 We are humanistic and believe in the GOOD in all people. We practice solutions focus, reality therapy, and meeting the person where they are in life.
My approach
Working with the WWW worried, working and well seeking appropriate solutions that are in crisis or daily challenges. Therapy is about behavior change! What is it that you want to change? Seek happiness and satisfaction on a daily basis.
My focus
The target population currently working in the Black and Hispanic community who are working, worried, and well but need a listening ear and structure to maintain a stable lifestyle.
My communication style
In order to develop a meaningful, safe environment, I provide a soft tone that is clear, with sensitivity and empathy, to allow them to feel comfortable to express their feelings without being judged.
My journey to mental healthcare
I grew up in an alcoholic environment parents were laissez-faire and I ended up in juvenile hall due to unfit parents. While in juvenile hall, I completed high school. My role model was a black man who was a Social Worker who provided me with the emotional support to attend college. I worked my way through college. I ended up working with the gangs and eventually returned to College to acquire my Master's Degree in Social work. I have a passion for helping others. Considering over 35 years in the field, I enjoy the opportunity to work in the 80s and 90s during the AIDS epidemic and have experience working with the medical staff. Lastly, the drive continues in private practice, and working during the pandemic was truly an experience.
My goals for you
Always begin with the patient and allow them to become comfortable and feel safe by observing the therapist's facial and body language. Once the psychosocial data has been collected, we will go over the issues and set short and long-term goals for behavioral change.
My first session with you
We will have an initial consultation to assess a good fit. We will follow up in the clinical session discussing the previous initial issues and what are the current priorities. We will begin the psychosocial process and develop the treatment plan.
