Hi! I'm Tiffany. I'm a social worker and have had over 10 years of working with clients in a variety of settings. I absolutely love working with clients as they learn to smile again through whatever situation it is that they find themselves in at the time. Personally, I love traveling, photography, and spending time with my family and my dog.
My approach
I don't believe that one form of therapy works for everyone and I think that it is important to get to know people and utilize a modality that works with each individual person. I also believe that some techniques, just like goals, need to change over time. Common modalities are CBT, person-centered and solution-focused.
My focus
I have worked with clients who have experienced domestic violence/IPV, foster care and adoption, NICU, long-term medical hospitalizations, grief/loss, homelessness and caregiving stress.
My communication style
I try to provide a comfortable, real, relaxed environment. I am who I am and I don't believe in being fake. My goal is to provide an environment in which others will be comfortable sharing their story with me and working towards their goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been a social worker for about 13 years and have done a variety of clinical case management. I found that through clinical case management, working with clients on their goals and helping to identify barriers is a different form of therapy. One of the biggest things that keeps me in this field is seeing clients heal and learn how to smile again; or, learn how to trust again. One of my favorite things is hearing from clients who are no longer working with me and hearing that they're accomplishing their goals and how our work impacted them.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting with clients during the beginning of the session as we get to know each other. I believe that goals are meant to be checked in on consistently and re-assessed as someone's situation changes.
My first session with you
I believe the first session should be focused on getting to know my clients, finding out what their expectations/hopes are; what they want out of therapy... and also sharing about the expectations I have as a therapist.
