Hi there, I'm Uzma!

I specialize in helping adults, couples, and families with depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses as well as interpersonal problems. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental environment to help you work through painful thoughts, feelings, and memories so that you can be free from the shackles of your past and choose with awareness how you want to lead your most fulfilling life. I use evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy to help you gain new coping skills, change old ways of thinking, and start your journey to wellness. My aim is to help you reach your goals and improve the overall quality of your life. Rather than diagnose a “problem” and then “prescribe” a particular course of treatment, I prefer to join with you to determine what bothers you about what’s going on in your life, what you’d like to be doing differently, and then work collaboratively with you to determine the best ways to get there. I bring with me my rich life experience and clients have often noted my warm, nurturing style of practice. I am easy to talk to, supportive, and not judgmental. While working toward change is serious business, humor has its place in my sessions as well. I bring a wealth of knowledge that I have acquired through my graduate studies, training, and life experience. I am a firm believer in the notion that we are always "becoming," and adversity offers all of us the opportunity to become stronger, not in spite of the adversity, but because of it! In summary, my training, compassion, life experience, and insight offer clients a unique opportunity to transcend current problems in the service of their own growth and developing maturity.
