Hi, I am Andrew Stenhouse, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I help clients manage stress, grief and loss, relational conflict, and the difficult transitions of life, including the work life.
My approach
Because each client is unique, I integrate Acceptance and Commitment; Dialectical Behavior; Narrative; and Cognitive therapies as appropriate - to best facilitate healing and growth for each individual.
My focus
My clients include (a) leaders struggling to navigate the dynamics of their vocation and its impact on the home; (b) employees searching to discover and develop meaningful careers; (c) individuals struggling to escape cognitive distortions that proliferate unhealthy conflict, anxiety, and/or depression.
My communication style
As a graduate studies professor, I employ a balance of insight, directive support, and mutual goal-setting. As an ordained minister for nearly 30 years, I also understand the importance of establishing a safe, trust-filled, and life-giving space for healing.
My journey to mental healthcare
I used to help people get better at doing their jobs. Now I help them get better at being themselves.
My goals for you
It is critical that we both understand that my goal is to simply help you achieve yours. Our course of treatment is established on your values and vision of your best self. I'm on your agenda. You are not on mine.
My first session with you
In order for me to best serve you, I need to do my best to understand you. I want to see, hear, and know you as best as I possibly can. Our first session is all about establishing safety, trust, then understanding.
