My name is Nicole Reyes and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) working with clients throughout CA, CO, and NM via telehealth. I work with adults and adolescents, specializing in anxiety, trauma/PTSD, depression, stress, and relationship issues. I enjoy using a Person-Centered approach combined with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to give clients the space to vent and process, while also ensuring you always leave the session with practical steps to help yourself cope.
My approach
My approach to therapy combines both client-led and directive approaches to provide a tailored treatment experience for each client based on what they need in the moment. I most frequently used Person/Client-Centered, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, and Strengths-Based therapies to help clients work toward their goals, build skills and resilience, and have a better outlook on life.
My focus
My practice is a place of acceptance for all, and I find myself often working with those who are looking for someone to finally make them feel heard and understood, and who want to strengthen their ability to cope with past traumas and current life stress. As a military spouse, I am also passionate about working with military-involved individuals. Someone's struggles in life may manifest as anxiety, PTSD, depression, relationship issues, or other unwanted behaviors, and my aim is to give my clients the tools they need to effectively cope in a way that no longer causes them harm.
My communication style
My communication style is bright, welcoming, personable, and humorous. You will be able to feel comfortable and connected in a way that makes you almost forget we're talking on a screen!
My journey to mental healthcare
I've always been a good listener with a knack for being able to "read between the lines" of human behavior. Becoming a therapist was a natural fit! There is nothing more fulfilling than walking the darkest path with someone, and being able to see them come out the other side.
My goals for you
During the first or second session with me, we will work together to come up with a few goals that reflect what you feel are the most important changes you want to see during our work together. This allows us to be super clear in your desired outcome, and helps form a great foundation for us to begin your therapy.
My first session with you
The first session together will feel a bit more like an interview, as we spend this time getting comfortable and asking questions so that I can best understand why you're looking for support right now. You get the chance to share everything you think would be important for me to know about you and your situation, and we identify the main points of focus for your treatment. This is the foundational conversation that will lead to us developing a flow and candor in each following session.
