Hi there, I'm Suzanne!

Suzanne Grace, LMFT 144783. My desire is to help you live a full life, to listen openly and without bias, and to understand you outside of your problems; to help you see that you have strengths and resources that will help you get through this difficult time or the challenges you face. My goal is to help you feel hopeful again. As a couple's therapist, my goal is to help the couple heal and/or learn how to move forward in a positive manner. I am passionate about women's issues, including peri- and post-partum, loss, infertility, and grief, and work with military and their families

My approach

I use EMDR for those experiencing trauma symptoms. In the first session, your history is assessed & we explore how the trauma symptoms have affected your life; during treatment, healing begins and a reduction in symptoms begins. I also integrate other modalities including Solution-Focused, CBT, DBT, NLP, and mindfulness techniques.

My focus

My passion is women's issues, including peri- and post-partum, loss, infertility, and grief, and addressing midlife issues including menopausal symptoms. When dealing with trauma from pre- or post-divorce, childbirth, loss or trying to manage motherhood (incl post-partum issues), career challenges, or if you are feeling stuck, sad, confused, or anxious, I will aid you in identifying those obstacles that stand in the way of reaching your goals. Additionally, I truly have a passion for working with couples and work as a collaborative divorce therapist, divorce mediator, and divorce coach.

My communication style

I am open and authentic, and I am also gentle when needed. It helps when clients feel comfortable and that can happen by hearing or telling silly anecdotal stories, talking about your kids or pets, or simply hearing how you spent your weekend. Therapy and your mental health are serious; however, sometimes to break the ice and to help you relax, we may talk about non-serious subjects. This is about you - and my goal is to help you relax and lean into that space with a "whatever it takes" attitude.

My journey to mental healthcare

I began my journey by wanting to work with foster youth but on the legal side (similar to a guardian ad litem). I found, though, that I was more organically a therapist than a lawyer and after a few years of making pro and con lists, I went back to school and obtained my Master's degree. I love helping others and because life is a journey filled with twists, turns, and puzzles, I enjoy the aspect of helping others through the different challenges they have encountered, and I love seeing the "ah ha" moments as they occur.

My goals for you

I ask the client what their goals are and if I hear another area in their life that I believe they could benefit from healing, I will make the suggestion but ultimately it is up to the client to determine what areas of their lives they would like to focus on.

My first session with you

The first session is comprised of me asking questions about any information you have shared on your intake forms, but it is also about getting to know one another. You should feel safe in the therapeutic space and in order to do that, we need to get to know one another.
