My name is Darlene Rizo. I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC# 9925) and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. My approach to therapy comes from a holistic and compassionate perspective, providing support as you move forward toward your goals.
My approach
I have a person-centered wellness approach to therapy, which incorporates Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills.
My focus
I enjoy working with adults from various cultures and backgrounds, including people who are challenged with disabilities, chronic illness, or adjusting to difficult transitions in life.
My communication style
I strive to create a therapeutic environment that will allow you to feel safe and respected in your healing work. My objective is to inspire you to feel honored and respected in this important process.
My journey to mental healthcare
In 1987, I became inspired and motivated to work in the field of recovery. My experience since then includes working within the medical model, addiction recovery programs, and focusing on vocational rehabilitation services. It has been a wonderful journey in which I continue to learn and grow. I have always been interested in what motivates people to live their best lives. I feel honored to be part of the supportive process that helps each individual to thrive.
My goals for you
We will discuss what you expect to gain from the counseling experience. We may also explore common goals such as enhancing your ability to cope or making positive changes in your life.
My first session with you
Our first session will allow us to become acquainted and get a sense of what has brought you to counseling. We will review any test results or diagnosis, discuss the current problems or situation, develop an agenda or plan of treatment, and determine an appropriate method to achieve your goals.
