As a licensed clinical social worker with a Doctor of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California and a master's from Loma Linda University, I bring 29 years of diverse experience to my therapy practice. Growing up in Lansing, Michigan as the youngest of five children in a single-parent family and as a trauma survivor myself, I deeply understand the challenges that individuals and families face.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is eclectic and trauma-informed, drawing upon DBT, CBT, Mindfulness, Narrative, Gestalt, Solution Focused, and Motivational Interviewing techniques. I have completed Basic EMDR Training and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I tailor my approach to best support each client's unique needs and goals.
My focus
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults facing issues related to grief, loss, abuse, neglect, and trauma. I also have experience helping clients navigate ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, chronic illness, chronic pain, codependency, depression, divorce, dual diagnosis, job stress, life transitions, mood disorders, relationship issues, and self-esteem challenges.
My communication style
I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered. Through open, honest, and collaborative communication, we will work together to identify your strengths, develop coping skills, process emotions, and create positive change. I am here to guide and support you with compassion and understanding.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to mental healthcare was shaped by my personal experiences and a deep desire to help others. Losing my sister to suicide in 2005 ignited my passion for suicide prevention and supporting survivors. I firmly believe that mental health is as important as physical health and aim to reduce the stigma around seeking therapy.
My goals for you
Whether you are seeking short-term, brief, or long-term support, my goal is to empower you with the tools and insights needed to lead a happier, healthier life. Together, we will work to reduce distress, improve relationships, develop resilience, and move toward the life you envision for yourself.
My first session with you
During our first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and collaborate to identify your goals. I will gather information about your history, current circumstances, and any symptoms you are experiencing. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, express concerns, and determine if we are a good therapeutic fit. We will begin to develop a plan tailored to your specific needs.
