Hello, I'm Dr. Amie Lemos-Miller, a licensed psychologist since 2009. Welcome to my practice, where I provide personalized care to help you navigate life's challenges and achieve your goals for personal growth and well-being.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is client-centered, working in close partnership with you to develop a customized treatment plan that addresses your unique concerns and needs. I specialize in evidence-based treatments drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, motivational interviewing, solution-focused and strength-based approaches. When appropriate, I also incorporate trauma-focused and grief therapy techniques.
My focus
I particularly enjoy helping individuals who feel stuck or are facing difficult transitions and stressors in their lives. My areas of expertise include treating anxiety, stress, depression, grief, trauma/PTSD, and anger management issues. I work with adults as well as adolescents ages 13-17.
My communication style
You can expect me to be an engaged, supportive, and collaborative partner in your therapeutic journey. My communication style is warm, non-judgmental, and interactive. I aim to create a safe space where you feel heard, validated, and empowered to make meaningful changes to enhance your life and relationships.
My journey to mental healthcare
My path to becoming a psychologist began with a deep desire to help others navigate adversity and improve their emotional well-being. I completed my doctoral training followed by a predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Davis Medical Center's CAARE Diagnostic and Treatment Center, which specializes in treating child and adolescent trauma.
My goals for you
My goal is to help you develop greater self-understanding, coping skills, and resilience to move forward in your life with renewed clarity, calm, and purpose. I want to empower you with tools and insights to better manage stress, improve your relationships and overall quality of life.
My first session with you
In our first session, I will focus on understanding your unique story, concerns, and therapy goals. We'll discuss your background as well as current struggles and strengths. I'll share more about my therapeutic approach and together we'll start mapping out a treatment plan that aligns with your needs and objectives. You'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the therapy process.
