Hello, My name is Ann DoQui, LCSW and I am passionate about self-actualization and self-discovery. I believe that therapy and mental health counseling are about optimizing yourself so that you can lead your own "best life". Maybe it's anxiety holding you back? Or something from your past that keeps showing up in your present? Perhaps some of your relationships are not working for you, but you're not sure how to move forward. The stresses of life are numerous and complex but there is no need to face any of these challenges alone.
My approach
We will work collaboratively together to understand your unique story. As a mental health practitioner, I have worked in many different settings and with diverse groups and individuals, which empowers me to both understand and appreciate some of the concerns you may be facing. I am a trauma-informed therapist and my knowledge about the latest research on brain science also guides my practice. We will tailor an approach to identify your specific therapeutic needs and reduce symptoms that may be bothering you. I also believe that finding supportive resources for self-care outside of our sessions can be very helpful and effective.
My focus
I enjoy working with young adults who are "trying to launch" and find their way in the world of work, relationships, and self-confidence. I have extensive experience working with addiction, trauma, parenting concerns, aging, and life transitions.
My communication style
My style is warm and supportive and I use curiosity as the means for exploring your concerns and overcoming roadblocks. I also appreciate the deep irony of life and that humor, at times, has its place in the journey of self-discovery and transformation. Most of my clients are surprised about how easy it actually is to talk about difficult topics with me, and I invite you to schedule an appointment to see if we are a match!
My journey to mental healthcare
Having overcome many obstacles in my own life, I know what it takes to build a sense of self, healthy self-esteem, nurturing relationships, and fulfillment in my career. I respect the struggle and the joy that comes with helping people find their way.
My goals for you
I believe that clients are entitled to self-determination, but that they also come to therapy looking for understanding and help. I set goals by first assessing what the problems are, and have been, and then providing the insight and direction that helps people choose the best course for themselves.
My first session with you
I like to understand what clients are looking for, what has worked for them in the past as well as what their needs are at the present time.
