Hi there, I'm Lindsey!

My name is Lindsey Leonard, LCSW. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Los Angeles, California, providing therapy services to clients statewide via telehealth. I specialize in working with adolescents, adults, and couples, with a focus on addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, and stress-related symptoms. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy to empower clients in navigating and improving their well-being.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is deeply personalized to meet the unique needs of each client. I frequently integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy. These modalities allow me to work collaboratively with clients, fostering a shared understanding of their experiences and empowering us to co-create effective strategies for progress and growth.

My focus

I've found that my therapeutic style and approach resonate well with individuals facing various challenges such as life transitions, trauma (especially childhood trauma), attachment difficulties, and social pressures. These issues commonly manifest as anxiety, depression, and stress. My focus is on guiding clients through these transitions and challenges, equipping them with skills to enhance self-esteem and cultivate a more positive perspective on life.

My communication style

My communication style is characterized by calmness, accommodation, and a personable approach. I strive to create an environment where my clients feel at ease discussing any topic, and I take pride in my ability to listen attentively without passing judgment. This fosters a trusting therapeutic relationship where clients can freely explore their thoughts, emotions, and concerns.

My journey to mental healthcare

From a young age, I've had a natural inclination for guiding individuals in discovering meaning and purpose in their lives, particularly during times of adversity. This innate trait, combined with my personal experiences, inspired me to pursue social work as a career. These foundational qualities continue to shape and refine my approach to therapy, where I am dedicated to supporting clients in navigating their challenges and achieving personal growth. Throughout my professional career, I have gained extensive experience working with diverse populations and ethnicities. This diverse exposure has deepened my understanding of human complexity and strengthened my commitment to serving others. It has equipped me with the skills to effectively connect with clients from various backgrounds, providing them with tailored support and fostering positive therapeutic outcomes.

My goals for you

In therapy, I approach goal setting collaboratively with clients, focusing on their specific needs and aspirations. Together, we identify clear and achievable goals that are meaningful to them, whether it's managing anxiety, overcoming trauma, improving relationships, or navigating life transitions. I ensure goals are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) to provide clarity and structure. Throughout our sessions, we regularly monitor progress, adjust strategies as necessary, and celebrate achievements, fostering a supportive environment where clients feel empowered to take charge of their personal growth and well-being.

My first session with you

In our initial session together, our primary focus will be on discussing your current feelings and how you are coping with any symptoms you may be experiencing. Through thoughtful questioning, I aim to gain a deeper understanding of your emotions and the factors influencing them. This session is pivotal for us to establish a strong rapport and for me to gather insights into your unique experiences and needs. I approach each client with an open mind, acknowledging the uniqueness of each person's journey. My priority is to listen attentively and empathetically before formulating any assumptions or proposing specific interventions. This collaborative process ensures that our therapy is tailored to your individual needs and desires, laying a solid groundwork for our ongoing work together toward meaningful progress.
