Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with 12 years of experience. I understand that each person seeks therapy for their own unique challenges; therefore, therapy should not be a one-size-fits-all approach. My therapy orientation is an eclectic one. I am well-versed in Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered, Attachment Theories, and Art Therapy. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Play Therapy. I am certified in EMDR.
My approach
I strongly believe that therapy works best when clients feel comfortable with their therapist. Therefore, I incorporate person-centered approaches and motivational interviewing techniques to help build rapport. I always work at the client's pace of readiness. Collaboratively, we develop a problem list to clarify and prioritize issues that need to be addressed in therapy.
My focus
I am comfortable working with clients of all ages and backgrounds. I have extensive experience doing trauma work, anxiety, depression, anger, emotional dysregulation, and play therapy. I also incorporate an LGBTQ- Affirmative approach to therapy.
My communication style
I provide a supportive, calming, and accepting environment for all clients. It's important to be nonjudgmental since everyone has faced challenges in their lives. My communication style will mirror the client's style so that therapy is most beneficial.
My journey to mental healthcare
Therapy is a passion of mine! I genuinely and sincerely enjoy helping people through life's challenges! Many people have no support systems, feel misunderstood, or just feel alone. What drives my work is seeing the "Light bulb turn on," and moving a client from stuck to success. Every person deserves their story to be told and to just be heard.
My goals for you
Goal-setting is an ongoing process. I start with small measurable and achievable steps. I usually re-evaluate clients' goals within a few months, when new concerns have emerged, or when clients feel they have met their goals.
My first session with you
Building rapport is key! The first few sessions will be spent building rapport and working on a problem list to prioritize issues to be addressed in therapy. Depending on the client's age and cognitive development, rapport building will look different to everyone.
