Hello, my name is Redd Davis and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. I provide client-focused psychotherapy treatment to empower and enrich individuals despite challenges. I specialize in working with older adults and individuals experiencing difficulty coping with grief.
My approach
I enjoy working collaboratively with clients to achieve goals using intuitive, insightful, and reality-based interventions. I believe individuals can be aware of their own needs and support empowering clients to lead treatment based upon what is meaningful to them. I utilize cognitive behavioral, insight-oriented, supportive, and validating interventions as well as elements of various other psychological theories to assist clients with meeting their own identified needs.
My focus
I have experience working with clients across various backgrounds and conditions. I specialize in working with older adults, chronic illnesses, and those dealing with complicated grief. I assist individuals with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and generalized difficulty adjusting to the challenges life can present.
My communication style
My communication style can be described as curiosity and exploration based. I believe in exploring thoughts and ideas which can lead to distress and developing ways to reframe those ideas to support growth. I enjoy genuine and open communication with laughter and empowering messaging.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always had an interest in better understanding people. This interest lead me to pursue psychology followed by social work education. I am driven to do this work to meet my passion for understanding and helping others. I find working as a therapist rewarding and I feel honored to assist people along their journeys to becoming their best selves.
My goals for you
I work with clients to determine goals for treatment. As a therapist, my goal is to assist clients with increased awareness; therefore, I join with clients to determine goals and actively engage clients in tracking goal progress and updating goals as needed.
My first session with you
During an initial session, I like to gather information to better understand how I can be helpful as a therapist. I ask questions related to reasons for seeking therapy, past treatment experiences, symptoms, and interests. I also join with clients to develop goals for treatment, questions regarding treatment, and any current thoughts as we enter a therapeutic relationship.
