It's another day, and you're filled with worry, anxiety, and dread. Thoughts keep cycling in your mind, and you feel sad, hopeless, and helpless. You don't have to continue feeling this way. You can get the tools and skills you need to live in a calm, joyful, fulfilling way by giving yourself the gift of therapy. I'm Deborah Bayles, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Allow me to safely companion you and help you gain some effective, evidence-based techniques to release the traumas of the past and the worries of the future. When you fully learn to inhabit the present moment, you can take control and responsibility for your life with power and confidence. Therein lies true healing. With an extensive background in business, education, technology, and eldercare, as well as psychotherapy, chances are I know what you're facing in the "real world" and can help you. I invite you to start a new way of thinking and looking at your world. I'm here for you through private, HIPAA-compliant online teletherapy, now and in the foreseeable future. I serve California residents exclusively.
My approach
I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, EMDR, solution-based therapies, and mindfulness/guided visualization. My theoretical orientation is Humanist/Existential.
My focus
I typically see a wide variety of adults over the age of 18 who are seeking relief from anxiety, depression, panic attacks, trauma, and difficulty coping in their relationships with family, work, friends, and lovers. I also enjoy couples counseling, regardless of the relationship's form.
My communication style
Clients appreciate my direct, challenging but empathetic, nonjudgmental approach. I expect that in each session we bring our authentic selves and be ready to work.
My goals for you
We'll lay the groundwork for our therapy roadmap in our first session. I'll explain how therapy works and ask you about what areas you want to work on, your goals for treatment, and what a successful outcome would look like for you. Most of all, I'll listen to you and try to make our time together safe and judgment-free. During our weekly one-hour sessions, we'll look at any outworn or harmful behavioral adaptations you've made to cope with your past traumas or challenges. Then we'll work on replacing those adaptations with new, healthier ways of thinking and behaving. You'll still be you at the end of our work together, but you'll be more peaceful, confident, and effective.
