Hi there, I'm Bonnie!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing tele-therapy throughout California. I appreciate the courage it takes to reach out to a therapist to talk about personal and often painful life experiences, and I am honored to be doing this important and meaningful work after over 30 years in the field.

My approach

My approach varies based on the needs of the client with a foundation of warmth, collaboration and safety. The modalities I use most frequently are Integrative or Holistic Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Person Centered Therapy and I pull from other approaches such as Internal Family Systems, Attachment Therapy, Positive Therapy and Somatic and Mindfulness approaches. I believe the mind-body connection is powerful, and our current experiences are often based in early experiences, resulting in the development of core beliefs that frequently “run our lives”, many times without our conscious awareness.

My focus

I work with adults and adolescents who are struggling with challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, grief, shame, self esteem and relationship challenges.

My communication style

One of the most important aspects of my job is to be present with you, to listen deeply and to offer questions or reflections with the intention of allowing you to increase your awareness of your own experiences, feelings and core beliefs, as well as being able to more deeply appreciate and embody your strengths and gifts. I have a strength-based, empathic and collaborative approach, so that you can explore, heal and grow in a safe, respectful environment with the intention of moving toward greater self awareness, self compassion and the ability to relate to both yourself and others in a more empowered, centered, wise way.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have always wanted to do meaningful work with the intention of creating a positive difference in the world. It is an honor for me to work with people to help them make changes they have been yearning for. I love the process of connecting, expressing and exploring, leading to increased self awareness, compassion and empowerment, and living a more fulfilling life.

My goals for you

As we work together we will develop meaningful goals based on what you are looking for from therapy, even if all you can see now is that you are wanting relief. We will check on our progress regularly with the ability to make adjustments as needed.

My first session with you

During our first meeting you will have the opportunity to share what is bringing you to therapy, what you’re struggling with and what you are hoping to accomplish as you get a sense of my therapeutic style. I will be asking for insights into your history, your relationships and your experiences. I’ll want to get a sense of how you see yourself and your world, your strengths and your concerns as we determine if we are a good match to do this important work together.
