My name is Jasmine Pena and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Modesto, California and working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I have work with adolescents and mostly specialize in depression, stress, anxiety and adhd using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and teaching social skills to help improve the functioning of my clients.
My approach
My approach varies for each and every client and their individual needs. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness techniques, teaching social skills and developing effective coping skills. I work closely with my clients to explore and identify strengths to collaborate on finding strategies to improve their quality of life.
My focus
My experience in the field has been working with adolescents and young adults who are dealing with challenges in the home, school, or community setting. I have found that my approaches have helped decrease symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and ADHD as well. I work with my clients to explore healthy coping skills, communication techniques, and social skills in order to improve their overall functioning.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, genuine, and empathetic. I want my clients to feel comfortable and safe talking to me and to also feel that they are being listened to without judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I knew from a young age that I wanted to become a therapist to help others. Being able to assist and support my clients and their families has been what drives me to do this career every day.
My goals for you
How I approach setting goals with clients is by exploring and collaborating on specific behaviors my clients would like to decrease/increase to improve their overall functioning. I utilize session time to build rapport and explore how we can set goals and track progress at every session.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session is me asking open-ended questions to better understand and learn about the symptoms you have been experiencing and understand some of why you may be feeling that way. You can expect to explore and identify strengths and collaboratively set goals you would like to work on in therapy.
